Now the problem with mindset or mental toughness development, achieving your goals and improving your life is that it often seems like a constant battle. It’s a battle to build your confidence, get motivated and keep that motivation going, to remain focused and committed and on track with your mission or plan….
Often people will set goals, build a plan to reach those goals, even plan for things to go wrong within plan. You’ll somehow manage to get motivated and action some process and actually start out on your journey to reaching your target…
...but then you start to lose motivation, you begin to fall back into old and bad habits, your focus and drive decreases and then you hit some roadblocks and then some more roadblocks and everything seems to be conspiring against you…
...and all of a sudden you stop putting in the effort and convince yourself that you actually didn’t even really want that goal anyway, that you really couldn’t be bothered, that it’s somebody else’s fault that you can’t continue…
...and you're back to square one, stuck back in the same old place you were before with the same old problems and that goal or dream you originally had seems way too hard… you’ll never get there.
Well at least you gave it a crack right? At least you had a go?
Well not so fast!
Anybody can give it a crack. Anybody can take a few steps towards a goal, anybody can get up early and get things done for a few days.
But it’s those who can do it consistently, it’s those who can remain focused and motivated and those able to navigate every hurdle thrown in front of them, it’s those people who persist who will actually be the winners and eventually reach their goals.
And trust me, I know. After years of trying and many, many setbacks and failures, I finally achieved my goal of making it into Special Forces. I should have never even been in the Army with my medical background, but I joined anyway and I persisted and remained focused and motivated in my mission to get the job done and become a Commando….
… and you can do the same.
